playmobil_camera Automation in the classroom follows two main objectives: One is to overcome restrictions imposed by limited workforce (or growing labour cost), the other to provide constant conditions for recording. Furthermore, the aim is to provide a framework for recording in the classroom with no or minimal impact on lecturers. This leads to developments in the following areas:

Audio

At ETH Zurich, most lecture halls are already equipped with microphones and loudspeakers. We take the audio signal from a recording out (-10dBV) and bring it asymmetrically to the Playmobil. The only prerequisite to this working is the lecturer switching on the microphone.

Video

Automated video tracking is the key to making the whole system working without user interaction. At present, CloseView from Nio is in use.

Content (VGA)

A VGA grabbing card must convert every input signal automatically to the same output. NCast and Unigraf are the companies providing solutions for this.
